Bolshunov and Weng on the top of Hitra
The event held over four days attracted a variety of talent including athletes from the FIS World Cup along with rollerski-specific racers and of course long distance specialists. The island of Hitra welcomed the first race of the Toppidrettsveka week with the 47k classic race.
The second of the FIS World Cup last winter, Alexandre Bolshunov, was the fastest in the final sprint, and took the best among a group of four skiers. Guide World Classic Tour leader Andrew Musgrave takes the second place, when Iivo Niskanen, athlete of the day, climbs on the podium.
On the women’s race, Heidi Weng made an early breakaway to a strong victory. Natalia Nepryaeva and Tiril Udnes Weng complete the podium. The Guide World Classic Tour yellow bib stays on Astrid Øyre Slind shoulders for a second overall victory in a row.
