Last stage of the 4th season of the Guide World Classic Tour, the new 47km long race of the Toppidrettsveka will give us such a crowning final !

 

    It is the first time for the Toppidrettsveka to be part of the Guide World Classic Tour, and it is also the first edition of the long distance classic race of 47 kilometres along the Hitra island coast.

This is also the last appearance for the Norwegian Star Petter Northug on a long distance race, coming to defeat the long distances specialists and the best athletes from national teams. Norway, Russia, Italy, Finland, Switzerland are one of the 11 national teams at the start on Thursday.

The Norwegian squad is well represented with reigning World Cup winner Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo, World Champion Emil Iversen, and the rest of the national team such as Toenseth, Krogh or Skar.

Klaebo will find on his road to success an athlete that has challenged him last winter, Alexander Bolshunov, coming to Norway with four teammates. Defending Olympic Champion Iivo Niskanen is one of the strongest challenger, but we can also mention Dario Cologna, Federico Pellegrino, and Francesco De Fabiani. Every long distance specialists are on the start list, including Andrew Musgrave who will try to keep the lead of the Guide World Classic Tour against his first contenders for the overall ranking named Petter Eliassen and Morten Eide Pedersen.

 

All of these skiers are willing to be part of history by winning the first edition of this competition, but also to give the final victory for there respective teams. It will be a tough fight until the end, as Team Koteng and Team Ragde Eindom tied in the lead. In third place, Lager 157 Ski Team is only 60 points behind.

The women’s race will be decisive for the team overall ranking. By winning the last stage, Astrid Øyre Slind could give the victory to her team as well as her individual success. With an advance of 110 points, a top 7 is enough to secure her first position. The fight for the position up from #2 is and remains exciting with a solid Youth leader and 2nd overall Thea Krokan Murud, Astrid’s teammateKari Vikhagen Gjeitnes, or Swedish Britta Johansson Norgren.

After a Swedish victory at Alliansloppet, the girls of the Norwegian national team leaded by Heidi Weng and Astrid Jacobsen are aiming for a home success. The new Swedish raising star Frida Karlsson, Maja Dahlqvist, Natalia Nepryaeva or US Sadie Bjornson and Sophie Caldwell will be the one to follow.
